Saturday (June 21), the longest day of the year, the Euromast put tall people in the limelight. In the literal and figurative sense, because the weather was beautiful. The day started with an Early Bird breakfast. During breakfast our tallest guest received a voucher for a night in one of our suites – Heaven or Stars - decorated by Jan des Bouvrie.
Rob Bruintjes, with 2.21 m the best-known and second tallest man in Holland, played a big part that day. He served breakfast in bed to our special guests, Ellen Bayer (2.10 m, USA) the tallest model in the world and Martine Balster (2.04 m) the tallest woman in Holland.
There was a special playground for the kids with Circus RotjeKnor and a workshop ‘how to get taller’ with Mrs. Klieder en Klodder.
Apart from above programme, the second edition of the longest day party had a distinct feminine touch. This in view of ‘La City’; for a whole month long Rotterdam shows its soft edges. Beside La City cocktail bar where guests could try the delicious women’s cocktail MonRo, there was a fashion show especially for tall women. Six tall models showed clothing from All About EVE and shoes from Caland Schoen.
During the day the visitors of the Euromast were measured up in a playful ay by a special brigade. From 1.85 m or taller you got free admission to the Euromast. For practically nothing visitors who were some centimetres short, could get extra length at a special stall. Creativity was rewarded with a free admission ticket. The sun-drenched terrace, constructed in the square for this occasion, was a great place to be. All in all it was a very successful event.
